Funeral services were held at the St. Anthony Church Wednesday morning and interment made in the parish cemetery. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved. Mrs. Bodewig and family '''''''''''''' The Columbus Daily Telegram, May 5, 1926, p. 8, col. 3 & 4 CEDAR RAPIDS (Saturday, May 1) Death of Bernard Bodewig At 5 o’clock last Sunday morning Bernard Bodewig died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Mary Bodewig, after a long period of illness. It seemed fitting that his life should close and his spirit enter its home of immortality just as the song birds caroled the break of day and the rays of morning light were kissing away the shadows in the eastern sky. The end came peacefully and he passed into the death sleep as a child weary from long hours of play lies down upon its cot in search of rest. Death was due to tuberculosis, from which he suffered several years. Bernard Bodewig was born near Hooper, Neb., June 1, 1886, and had always lived a single life with his parents. Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Vermullen Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock. The body was laid to rest in the parish cemetery in the family lot beside his father, who died five years ago. He leaves to mourn, his mother, three sisters and four brothers – John Bodewig, of Humphrey, Christ, of Casper, Wyo.; William of St. Louis, Mo.; Frances, of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Joe Zuerlein, of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. John Meyers, of Primrose, Mrs. Fred Chanen, of Casper, Wyo. His six nephews carried the body to its last resting place – Laurence, Evert, Harold and Harry Meyers, Gilbert Zuerlein and Edward Bodewig, of Humphrey. Relatives from a distance were Jake Riece, Barney and Tom Haywood of Richland; and Mr. and Mrs. John Bodewig, and children, from Humphrey; Mr. and Mrs. John Meyers and family of Primrose.
