He came to this country with his parents in the year 1866. He was married October 21, 1878 at Ridgley, Neb. Besides his wife deceased leaves eight children, two brothers and one sister. The sons are, John of Humphrey, Chris. of Fremont, Francis of Casper, Wyo., Bernard and Will of Cedar Rapids. The daughters are Mrs. F. J. Zuerlein and Mrs. John Meyers of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. F. C. Shannon of Casper, Wyo. The brothers are Chris of Alpha, Wash., Peter of Fremont, Neb., and a sister, Mrs. A. H. Harms of Hooper, Neb. Mr. Bodewig came to Cedar Rapids about twelve years ago from Cornlea. He has been in poor health for several months and a few weeks ago was taken to the Columbus hospital for treatment, where he passed away Monday evening, after all that kind and helping hands could do.
