Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church, ELCA with Reverend Gary Landsness officiating. Interment will be at St. Claire Cemetery in Ute, Iowa. Bernice Betty Plueger was born April 18, 1935 in Le Mars, Iowa to Charles and Freda (Freiberg) Plueger. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa. She attended Grant #7 country school. Bernice was united in marriage to Wilmer Knutson on December 30, 1968 in Luverne, Minnesota. Wilmer and Bernice raised their family at Soldier, Iowa. He passed away on August 24, 2000. Bernice moved to Le Mars in 2008. As a young woman, Bernice enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She loved to spend time tending to her large garden and canning to enjoy the fruits of her labor all year long. She was a great cook who loved to have family visit. She was a very thoughtful, hardworking, generous woman. Bernice loved to socialize with family and friends. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan. Her faith was always very important, up to her death she was reading the Bible and attending devotions. Her greatest joy in life is her family. Survivors include her children, Lori Johnson of Le Mars, Bruce Knutson and his wife Lisa of Le Mars, Anna Grell and her husband James of Danbury, IA, and Monica McAlpin and her husband Travis of Norwalk, IA; 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; siblings: Leonard and Patty Plueger of Le Mars, Charlene and Orville Durr of Le Mars, Robert Plueger of Le Mars, Arlan and Starla Plueger of Marshall, MN, and Denny and Marilyn Plueger of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Delaine Plueger of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Freda (Freiberg) Plueger; husband, Wilmer Knutson in 2000; a brother Joseph Plueger in infancy; and a brother, Ernest Plueger.
