Description	:	MUSCATINE, Iowa - Bernice Clara Manley, 91, formerly of 319 Liberty Street, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. on Monday, June 28, 2004, at Zion Lutheran Church, 517 Sycamore Street. Reverend Paul Ostrem will officiate. Casket bearers will be Mike Manley, Canaan Manley, Seth Manley, Brian Broders, and Scott Richardson. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Church following the committal service. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2004, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. ... Bernice was born on November 3, 1912, in Muscatine, the daughter of Werner and Clara M. Henning Axel. She married Elmer A. Manley on November 15, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Survivors include three sons, Richard G. Manley and wife, Yenette, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Gary A. Manley and wife, Sue, of Erie, Colorado, and David E. Manley and wife, Leanne, of Muscatine; one daughter, Joan K. Lane and husband, Richard, of Muscatine; one daughter-in-law, Sherry Manley of Muscatine; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Chester W. Axel and wife, Wilma, of Muscatine; three sisters, Florence Peters and husband, Loren, of Plymouth, Michigan, Wilma Swisher of Muscatine, and Beverly Sywassink and husband, Duane, of Normal, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1994, one son, Merle V. Manley in 2000, and four brothers, Donald, Harvey, Elmer, and Glenn Axel.
