Description	:	Bernice H. A. Schluter, 96, of Tipton, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation. All who attend the funeral services are required to wear a mask and exercise social distancing within groups. Bernice Helen Anna Moeller was born April 1, 1924, on the family farm in Cedar County near Bennett, daughter of Walter and Clara (Stolte) Moeller. She attended school in Clarence and High School in Bennett, but did not graduate, telling her friends she did not finish high school because she needed money. She married Gale Leroy Sissel in 1942 and they raised two children, Beva and Randy. Gale preceded her in death on May 8, 1971. She owned B&D Dry Goods in Tipton and later worked at Bud’s Super Value in Tipton. She married Darrell Price Blayney in 1972. Darrell preceded her in death on February 27, 1978. She married Hugo William Schluter in 1980 and together worked at Sheets & Son Funeral Home in Tipton, which later became Fry Funeral Home. She was employed as manager and hostess for the visitations and funerals. Hugo preceded her in death in 1997. She loved dogs, bowling, bingo, waltzing and square dance music. She was a member of the United Church of Christ. She became a resident of Prairie Hills Assisted Living, where she had countless friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She always greeted others in the hallway and helped new residents feel at home. She loved Prairie Hill’s monthly pie socials. As a child, she was given a red comb from her grandmother Stolte for her birthday, which she still has to this day. She was known to be a very sharp and very independent woman with a heart of gold. Surviving are one daughter, Beva Ann Blouin of Las Vegas, NV; one son, Randy Gale (Jennifer) Sissel of Fort Madison; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Sterner and Neva (Lynn) Phelps, both of Tipton; and two brothers, Alvin (Marilyn) Moeller of Marion and Wallace (Patricia) Moeller of Tipton. She is preceded in death by her parents, her three husbands, two sisters, Helen Sissel and Luella Phillips and one brother, Raymond Moeller. Fry Funeral Home
