Description	:	Bernice L. Johnson Milburn, 83, of Friendship Manor in Grinnell, a former resident of Newton, died Wednesday evening, April 7, at the manor from complication following a stroke. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton after 8 a.m. Sunday and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.... Read More	Bernice L. Survivors are five sons, Donald and Gary, both of Grinnell, Dale and Larry, both of Newton, and James of Whittier, Calif.; four daughters, Wanda (Mrs. Norman) White of Ankeny, Beverly (Mrs. Joe) Deutsch of Monroe, Joan (Mrs. Stan) Sievers of Newell and Joyce (Mrs. Dick) Capps of Knoxville; 27i grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Irma (Mrs. Willie Laymiller and Naomia (Mrs. Glenn) Schaffer, both of Grinnell, Thelma (Mrs. Corwin) Hadley of New Providence, Maxine (Mrs. George) Strawser of Anoka, Minn., and Berry (Mrs. Cleo) Strawser of Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Omar W., June 15, 1991 and two brothers, Virgil Johnson and Clifford Johnson. Mrs. Milburn, a homemaker, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Oak Ridge Grange and the Homemakers Club No. 3. The daughter of William Thomas and Gracie Jane Davis Johnson, she was born Aug. 20, 1909 in Malcom. She was a 1928 graduate of Grinnell High School.
