Description	:	Berniece was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Carl J. and Bertha (Rettke) Opfer. At two years of age, her family moved to Hopkinton to start farming and later in 1922, moved to a farm in Buck Creek. She spent the remainder of her life in Buck Creek, graduating in 1936 from Buck Creek Consolidated School. In July 1936, she and Gene Moulton eloped. Read More	Berniece was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Carl J. and Bertha (Rettke) Opfer. At two years of age, her family moved to Hopkinton to start farming and later in 1922, moved to a farm in Buck Creek. She spent the remainder of her life in Buck Creek, graduating in 1936 from Buck Creek Consolidated School. In July 1936, she and Gene Moulton eloped. She served 20 years at the Buck Creek Consolidated School and Maquoketa Valley School cafeterias. She was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church for 84 years and was organist for 50 years. She was a caring person, fantastic cook, gardener extraordinaire and loving mom and grandma. Her home was always open to all, food was at the ready, and conversation and games always followed. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene (1980), daughter Janice (2012) and brothers, Raymond, Gene and Norman, and their wives.
