Description	:	Janice was born on July 7, 1937, the eldest child of Gene Lewis Moulton and Berniece Marie Opfer Moulton. Jan graduated from Buck Creek Consolidated School in 1955, having spent her entire K-12 career in one building. She attended Cornell College briefly before starting work in Cedar Rapids. Jan married Dean Edgar Carr in 1959, and within three years they completed their family with the addition of two children. Read More	Janice was born on July 7, 1937, the eldest child of Gene Lewis Moulton and Berniece Marie Opfer Moulton. Jan graduated from Buck Creek Consolidated School in 1955, having spent her entire K-12 career in one building. She attended Cornell College briefly before starting work in Cedar Rapids. Jan married Dean Edgar Carr in 1959, and within three years they completed their family with the addition of two children. The family lived in California from 1963 to 1969, moving to the Chicago suburbs in 1969. Jan went back to college once her children were in middle school and completed her associate's degree with honors. She worked at an elementary school in Oak Lawn for a few years before seeking advancement within her local school district. Jan retired from School District 230 in Orland Park, Illinois having worked as administrative assistant to the district controller for many years. The most important accomplishment of her working career was gaining bargaining rights for clerical staff within the district who were not covered under faculty or administrative contracts. This class of employees gained pensions and benefits that would not have been possible without her leadership. In 2000, Jan and Dean divorced amicably. She spent her last ten years splitting time between Illinois and Arizona. She enjoyed politics, gardening, friends, decorating and travel. Jan successfully fought back against cancer several times during her life. She surrendered peacefully in her final battle with ovarian cancer on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Jan is survived by her mother and three siblings, her ex-husband, children Gayle Carr Johnson and Shawn W Carr, and grandchildren Joseph Edgar Carr, Natalie Hope Johnson and Meredith Leigh Johnson. She was preceded in death by her father.
