Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with visitation from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the services. ----- Published in The Rochester Sentinel Wednesday, April 16, 2008 Bernita 'Ann' Crispen Miller June 28, 1938-April 12, 2008 Surrounded by her loving family, Ann was embraced by the angels as she went to be with our Lord at 5:50 p.m. on April 12, 2008. Ann, 69, of 3660 S. 500 East, Rochester, was in failing health for eight months. She died at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. A lifetime resident of Fulton and Miami counties, she was the daughter of Louis and Bernice Cover Shambarger. She married Francis Lee Crispen on March 10, 1956, in Mentone. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1985. She married George Miller on Oct. 7, 1987, and he survives. She was employed at Torin Corp., Rochester, and sold Avon products until her retirement in 1995. A member of the Church of the Nazarene, she also belonged to the Green Oak Club and Home Circle home economics club. She also had participated in the Lioness Club, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and was a charter member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and ladies Topps weight management group. Ann enjoyed gardening - both flowers and vegetables. Following the garden harvest, she would can and freeze the fruits of her labor. She enjoyed the challenge of word puzzles and relaxed by reading novels, the Bible and other spiritual passages. As an avid I.U. basketball fan, Ann cheered for the cream and crimson. Ann loved her family deeply and adored her grandchildren. She was passionate about the special times they spent together. Survivors include her husband, George Miller, at home; three daughters, Deborah Mills and husband Tom, Rochester, Carin Ringle and husband CW04 Michael, Fort Campbell, Ky., Ellen Felts and husband Neil, Rochester; a son, Kevin Crispen and wife Susan, Rochester; 11 grandchildren, Levi and Lucas Mills, Jenna, Joshua and wife Shanna, Jonas and Jason Crispen, Justin and Nicholas Ringle, Ashly, Casandra and Zachary Felts; a great-grandson, Gunnar Crispen; three stepgrandchildren, Hope, Gracie and Chelsea Manns; a sister, Marjorie DeWitt, Logansport; her mother-in-law, Burnice Crispen; two brothers, Lewis "Bob" Shambarger and wife Jan, Plymouth, Herbert Shambarger and wife Doris, Laketon; her faithful canine companion, Jazzy, an American Eskimo dog; nieces, nephews and cousins. She also was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Landon Felts and Lacey Mills; three sisters, Marilyn Nicodemus, Sue Long and Nancy Brinell; and two brothers, Mark and Charles Shambarger. A celebration of the life of Bernita "Ann" Crispen Miller will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Good Family Funeral Home. Rev. Don Meyer and Rev. Lowell Burrus will officiate. She will be laid to rest at the IOOF Cemetery, Rochester. Friends may visit with Ann's family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to her service. Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in Ann's memory to the Church of the Nazarene or the Scleroderma Foundation.
