SHAMBARGER, Sr., 68, 1032 N. Madison St., Kewanna (Bruce Lake), passed away at 7:49 p.m. Wednesday at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac, after suffering an apparent heart attack at his residence. He was a former resident of the Rochester and Macy communities. He was born on Oct. 20, 1935, in Deedsville, to Lewis J. and Bernice E. Cover Shambarger. He lived most of his life in the Miami and Fulton County areas of Indiana. He was first married on Sept. 1, 1957, in Peru to Carol Crousore. He was later married in February 1980 to Marjorie Joanne Medley Casey. He was the founder of The Bears Den Tavern, currently known as The Den, in Akron, which he operated 1974-1978. He was a district manager for United Parcel Service in Atlanta and Albany, N.Y. He later served as regional manager for Elsons Co., Atlanta, in the Atlanta, Chicago and New York markets. He also had been an over-the-road truck driver for Tandem Trucking, Milwaukee, for a number of years. Most recently, he served the Fulton County Veterans Service Office as a driver for county veterans. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post No. 36 and Lake Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1343, both of Rochester. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge, Logansport. When he wasn't driving for the veterans, his favorite pastime was investing in stocks and following the stock markets. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Joanne Shambarger, at home; two daughters, Kelly Lebo and husband Gary, Middletown, Ohio, and Lela Nash and husband Gordon, Warsaw; three sons, Chuck K. Shambarger Jr. and wife Robin, Jackson, N.J., Randy L. Shambarger and wife Vita, Rochester, and Skip A. Shambarger, Roann. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Justin C. Shambarger, Jackson, N.J., Lacey and Lucas Skipper, Warsaw, Kayla Ewing, Rochester, Jesilyn Shambarger, Roann, Garrett and Gwendolyn Lebo, Middletown, Ohio, and Jordan Shambarger, Rochester; one stepdaughter, Joanna Lyn Rucker, Rochester; one stepson, Donald David Casey and wife Donna, Delphi; four stepgrandchildren, Travis and Ryan Rucker, Rochester, Steven and Anthony David Casey, Delphi; three sisters, Marjorie DeWitt, Logansport, Ann Miller and husband George, Rochester, and Marilyn Nicodemus, Royal Center; and two brothers, Lewis "Bob" Shambarger and wife Jan, Plymouth, and Herb Shambarger and wife Doris, Laketon. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was one of a family of nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, 128 W. Sixth St., Rochester, with the Rev. Junior Bose officiating. Interment will be at IOOF Cemetery, Rochester. LeRoy Shelton American Legion and Lake Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars posts will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to his service Sunday at the funeral home.
