Description	:	BERNT CHRISTIANSON Funeral services for Bernt Christianson were held at First Lutheran Church Saturday, May 28, 1955 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Elias Kristensen officiating. Mrs. Norman Hoekstra and Mrs. Dean McInnes, accompanied by Mrs. Dennis Anderson, sang "I'm a Pilgrim" and "Abide With Me." In closing, the congregation sang "O Happy Day When We Shall Stand." Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery northwest of town. Pallbearers were: Alfred Opdahl, Donald Opdahl, Elmer Opdahl, Henry Opdahl, Jerry Opdahl and Lyle Opdahl. Honorary pallbearers were: T. I. Bernt Christianson, son of Kristian and Jorgine Boreson, was born in Ness paa Hedemarken, January 6, 1871. As a young man, he came to Wisconsin, later moving to Canby, MN. He came to the Litchville area in 1909 where he practiced his trade as a carpenter, and made a home for his mother who had come to the United States. On December 11, 1938 he married Ida Monson; Rev. O.O. Lovaas officiated. He was a member of First Lutheran Church serving as deacon for a number of terms. A faithful supporter of the church and its work, he was always ready to lend a hand as needed. He was active at his trade until very recent years when his health began to fail. He was a patient at Mercy Hospital for a short time, passing quietly away on the evening of May 25, 1955 at 6:30 o'clock. Surviving besides his wife are two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Opdahl and Dina of Norway; four brothers, Martin, Chicago, IL; George, Kensington, MN, Carl, Minneota, MN and John in Norway. One brother, Kristian and a sister, Bergina, preceded him in death; a large number of nieces and nephews also survive, as well as a host of loyal neighbors and friends. Blessed be his memory.
