Willey were brought to Grafton last Thursday, and funeral services were conducted at the Congregational church at 2 o'clock p.m. by the pastor, Rev. H.M. Skeels. Bert C Willey was born on the Willey homestead south of Grafton September 3, 1873, and died at Excelsior Springs, Mo., April 8, 1918, aged 44 years, 7 months and 5 days. Read More	WILLEY, BERT C.—The remains of the late Bert C. Willey were brought to Grafton last Thursday, and funeral services were conducted at the Congregational church at 2 o'clock p.m. by the pastor, Rev. H.M. Skeels. Bert C Willey was born on the Willey homestead south of Grafton September 3, 1873, and died at Excelsior Springs, Mo., April 8, 1918, aged 44 years, 7 months and 5 days. He was married to Sadie Hornbaker August 31, 1910. For the past eight years he was engaged in business in Grafton. His health began failing about four years ago. He was afflicted with a complication of diseases. During the time of his illness, he consulted many specialist, and every effort was made to regain his health, but without avail. His condition grew steadily worse. On March 27 he went to Excelsior Springs, where he had gone several times before in an effort to gain relief. On Sunday, April 7, Mrs. Willey was advised of his serious condition and left for Excelsior Springs immediately. He passed away about 12:30 p.m. Monday April 8. He is survived by his wife, a step-daughter Madge, two sisters Mrs. J.M. O"Brien of Grafton and Mrs. L.C. Griess of Sutton; and two brothers, John Willey of Sutton and G.A. Willey of Minneapolis, Minn. The funeral was attended by a very large number of friends. After the services at the church the remains were taken to Geneva, and buried in the cemetery where his mother and father are buried. Source: The Nebraska Signal, 1918.
