Description	:	Bertha Amelia Reese was born on the Reese homestead near Pleasanton to Lillie V. Hall and Walter Willis Reese. She had three brothers, Albert, Raymond, and Clarence. Bertha attended school in Pleasanton and graduated in 1913. During the years that she cared for her Mother she was very active in the United Brethren church. She served as treasurer of the Sunday School as well as a church steward. In May of 1929, she became the postmaster in Pleasanton. Bertha attended school in Pleasanton and graduated in 1913. During the years that she cared for her Mother she was very active in the United Brethren church. She served as treasurer of the Sunday School as well as a church steward. In May of 1929, she became the postmaster in Pleasanton. She continued her work and the care of her mother until Lillie died at her home July 19, 1949. During World War II she spent many, many extra hours at work so families could hear immediately from the men and women serving our country. She celebrated 25 years as postmistress in 1954 and continued in that office until she retired at age 70 in 1965. She was a member of the United Brethren church, American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star Lodge in Ravenna. She enjoyed her home library, flowers, birds, and garden until 1982, when health necessitated a move to the Mother Hull Home in Kearney where she died at age 89.
