Bertha Agnes Weiss was born Feb. 4, 1898, on a farm in Pilot Township, the daughter of Charles and Mathilda Knipfer Faas. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Victor, April 3, 1898, by the Rev. Otto Kitzman, and attended St. John's Lutheran School. She was confirmed at St. John's Church April 9, 1911, by Pastor Kitzman. She married Carl E. Weiss Nov. 19, 1919, with the Rev. N. G. Uhling officiating. The couple farmed east of Deep River. In 1941, they bought a farm near Guernsey, which they operated until retiring in 1975 and moving to Victor. She was a homemaker and a hostess for many Weiss and Faas family events. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, the Busy Bee Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Weiss is survived by one son, Verne, Anoka, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; one sister, Edna Teggatz, Williamsburg, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1976; her parents, three sisters, four brothers, one daughter, Florence, in 1973, one son, George in 1994, and two grandsons.
