BERTHA BOWERS DIED; FUNERAL HELD WEDNESAY AFTERNOON Bertha A., daughter of James and Naomi Eastin Reynolds, was born January 18, 1869 in Taylor County, Iowa and died September 10, 1945 at Clarinda, at the age of 76 years. She grew to womanhood and spent her entire life in Taylor and Adams counties, except five years she lived in California. BERTHA BOWERS DIED; FUNERAL HELD WEDNESAY AFTERNOON Bertha A., daughter of James and Naomi Eastin Reynolds, was born January 18, 1869 in Taylor County, Iowa and died September 10, 1945 at Clarinda, at the age of 76 years. She grew to womanhood and spent her entire life in Taylor and Adams counties, except five years she lived in California. On June 30, 1887, she was married to Fletcher Bowers who preceded her in death October 28, 1901. Three children were born to this union, all of whom survive. They are Lloyd F. and Mrs. Homer Tugel of Corning, and John W. of Nodaway, also two grandchildren, one great grandson, one brother, Charles Reynolds of Bloomfield, Nebraska and three sisters, Mrs. Stella Griffith of Clarinda, Mrs. Henry Dennis of Canova, South Dakota, and Mrs. Velma Kitchen of near Denver, Colorado. On January 31, 1906, she was married to George Harrison Bowers who survived her. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Nodaway and always took active part in church work as long as her health permitted. She and Mr. Bowers were resident of Villisca for the past fourteen years. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Sutphen Funeral Home, with Mrs. Bertha Peters in charge. Singing was by Mrs. Hazel Hyde and Mrs. Maude Scott, accompanied by Mrs. Grace Nordyke. The flower ladies were Mrs. Darlie Agnew and Mrs. R. D. Agnew, and the pall bearers were C. G. English, Frank Conway, W. P. Spring, Homer Browning, Chas Watts, and Clarence Tucker. Interment was int the Methodist Grove Cemetery. She grew to womanhood and spent her entire life In Taylor and Adams communities, except five years she lived in California. On June 30, 1887, she was married to Fletcher William Simpson Bowers, who preceded her In death October 28. 1901. Three children were born to this union all of whom survive. They are Lloyd F., Mrs. Homer Tugel of Corning and John W. of Nodaway, also two grandchildren, Carl Tugel of Atlantic, Iowa and Mrs. Donald Bell of Saginaw. Michigan, also one great grandson, Terry Tugel, one brother Charles Reynolds of Bloomfield, Nebraska, three sisters. Mrs. Stella Griffith of Clarinda, Iowa: Mrs. Henry Dennis of Conovc, South Dakota, and Mrs. Velma Kitchen of near Clifton. Colo,, and a host of other relatives and friends. On January 31, 1906 in Nodaway, Adams County, Iowa, she was joined in marriage to George Harrison Bowers, who survives her. She was a member of Presbyterian Church at Nodaway and always took an active part as long as her health allowed. She loved her home and was a loving mother and faithful wife and kindly neighbor anf friend. Funeral services were September 12, at Sutphen Funeral Home with Mrs. Bertha Peterson in charge. Musice was furnished by Mrs. Hazel Hyde and Mrs. Maude Scoll accompanied by Mrs. Grace Nordyke. Pall bearers were C. G. English, Homer Browning, Frank Conway, Charles Watt, M. P Spring, and Clarence Tucker. Mrs. R. D. Agnew was in charge of flowers. Adams County Free Press, Corning, Iowa, September 20, 1945
