Description	:	GEORGE HARRISON BOWERS George Harrison Bowers son of George Bowers and Susanna H. Schuler was born February 9, 1865 in Schuyler County, Illinois and departed this life February 26, 1949 at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital at the age of 84 years and 17 days. In 1866 he came with his parents and settled on a farm in Adams County, Iowa. There he grew to manhood and continued to reside. On January 31, 1906 he was married to Miss Bertha Amanda Reynolds, who preceded him in death on September 10, 1945. He is survived by three children, Loyd F. Bowers, Mrs. Frances Tugel, and John W. Bowers, all of corning; tow grandchildren, Carl Tugel of Creston and Mrs. Donald Ball of Saginaw, Michigan: three great-grandchildren: one sister Mrs. Emma Wilkie of California: a number of nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. His parents, two brothers, and four sisters preceded him in death. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a loving husband and father and a kindly friend and neighbor. Funeral services were held at the Sutphen Funeral Home in Villisca, Tuesday, March 1, 1949 at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Mrs. Bertha Peters. Singing was by Harold Todd with Mrs. Grace Nordyke as accompanist. Pallbearers were Elmer Lindberg, Milton Ankeny, George Carmichael, Glen Jackson, Juhus March, and Harold Walters. Burial was in the Methodist Grove Cemetery. Adams County Free Press, March 3, 1949
