Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Conde. Father David Janes */will celebrate the mass. Father Thomas Vazhappily will lead the rosary at 7 p.m. at the church. Bertha was born Jan. 17, 1912, in Turton to Engelbert and Elizabeth (St. Pierre) Klapperich. She attended the Little Convent School and graduated from Turton High School in 1931. She attended nurses' training in Aberdeen and married Oliver Remily on Aug. 21, 1934, in Turton. They lived in the Turton area until 1956 when they moved to Ypsilanti, Mich. She began working at Beyer Memorial Hospital in Ypsilanti and became a LPN while working there. She retired in 1972 and they moved back to Conde in 1974. After Oliver passed away in 1984, she moved to Turton. She lived there until entering the Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton in 2001. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Turton and VFW auxiliary for many years, including being chaplain until she no longer could attend the meetings. Bertha is survived by two sons: Richard Remily of Adrian, Mich., David (Alice) Remily of Newport, Mich.; and twin daughters: Geraldine (Charles) Russell of Germfask, Mich., and Zepherine (Marvin) Chapman of Whitmore Lake, Mich. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, four sisters, one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. Casketbearers will be Mitch, Greg and Brian Chapman, Tim, Dale, Paul and Jeff Russell and Scott Remily. Published in the Aberdeen News on 10/14/2005.
