Description	:	Friends were grieved upon learning that Mrs. Herbert Cady residing on the old Hamilton farm near Nodaway, had passed Saturday evening following an operation. The services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, the services being conducted by Rev. W. H. Doyle, pastor of the Nodaway Methodist Church. Interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Bertha Ann Brown was born at Prescott, September 12, 1893 and was aged 27 years, 6 months, and 27 days. She was united in marriage to Herbert Cady, January 21, 1914 and to them two sons were born, Myron Jay, aged two years and baby Wilmer aged four months, who with their father survive her. She also leaves her parents, four sisters and three brothers. At the age of 18 years, Mrs.. Cady united with the Methodist Church in Lincoln, of which organization she was a faithful member. Her death was a sad blow to the husband and Family. Adams County Free Press, April 21, 1917, page 5 Mrs. Herbert W. Cady, after an illness of only six days, passed away peacefully away, Saturday evening at 6:40 o'clock at her home near Nodaway. The funeral was held at her late residence Monday at 2 o'clock. Services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Mr. Doyle, of Nodaway. Choice musical selections were rendered by the church choir. Interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful. Bertha Ann Cady was born September 17, 1893 in Prescott, Iowa and died April 14, 1917 aged 23 years, 6 months and 27 days. Daughter of Alva Brown and Julie Brooks. She grew to womanhood in Adams County and was married to Herbert W. Cady January 1914. To this union were born two children, Myron, aged 2 years and Wilmer, aged 4 months. Bertha united with the M. E. Church at Brooks when 18 years of age and lived the Christian life by precept and example. She was a loving, dutiful wife and mother. "None knew her but to love her." Left to mourn her untimely death, besides her husband and children are her father, mother, three brothers and four sisters and a host of friends. Adams County Free Press, April 18, 1917, page 2
