Fairbanks, of Cass township died at her home yesterday afternoon at 3:20 o'clock. Last week we noted the birth of her babe, which was but nine days old when death separated them. The prevailing influenza, popularly known as grip,followed the birth of the child, blood poisoning developed, resulting in death. Fairbanks, of Cass township died at her home yesterday afternoon at 3:20 o'clock. Last week we noted the birth of her babe, which was but nine days old when death separated them. The prevailing influenza, popularly known as grip,followed the birth of the child, blood poisoning developed, resulting in death. The alarming condition of her health had been noted for a week before death, and nothing was left undone, which could be provided in medical skill and attention to save her life, but to no avail. Physicians from both Monticello and Anamosa were in attendance or consultation. Three hours before her death she was very cheerful, and it was hoped that a turn had come for the better, but the collapse of life forces was very rapid. Mrs. Blassing was a lovely young woman. Her sad and untimely death comes as a crushing blow to her husband, the grief stricken parents and the doting brothers and sisters who always regarded her as the pet of a large family. Mr. and Mrs. Blassing were married Feb'y 22, 1900. The deceased was 24 years of age. The funeral will be held at the residence of Mr. A. L.
