Visitation is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Friday at Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lester Standley; her parents; brothers Brodie "Bud," Clinton and James Fraser; a grandson, Kirby Albright; and sons-in-law Don Schuchard and Mike Webster. Bertha was born Dec. 25, 1915, to Donald and Annie (Brodie) Fraser, in Frazer, Mont. She attended schools in Frazer, Victor, Florence, Ulm, and in the Castner Falls area. On Sept. 7, 1936, Bertha and Lester Standley were married in Helena, Mont., and they lived at the Green Meadow Farm near Helena. In November, 1944, they moved to the family home near Cascade, where Bertha had lived ever since. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Cascade, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and was a 53-year member of Cascade Chapter No. 101, Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1969. She belonged to Daughters of the Nile and Castner Falls Home Demonstration Club, and was named Mrs. Montana Homemaker in 1965. Bertha was famous for her raised doughnuts, cinnamon rolls and all baked goods. She was also an excellent seamstress, sewing countless dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. Her granddaughters just loved receiving one of Grandma's handmade flannel nightgowns as a Christmas present. Each daughter, grandchild and great-grandchild was the recipient of one of her famous quilts, and will treasure it always. She was a perfect farmer's wife, helping with the milking chores during harvest, caring for the chickens, and gathering the eggs morning and night. Although Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease several years ago, she was always a pleasure to be around. Everyone was always rewarded with her friendly smile whenever they came to visit, or saw her at various functions. Mom will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved her, but we know that she is at rest with Dad and smiling down on us. We love you, Mom and Dad!
