Krenmyre in charge. The Rev. O. E. Cooley of Audubon; brought the sermon. A male quartet, composed of George Textor, Chas. W. Thomas, Dale Textor and Douglas Coder, was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Roswell Jordan. Interment was in the Coon Rapids cemetery with short Eastern Star services conducted at the grave. Bertha Frank was born in Davenport, Iowa November 23, 1874. At the age of nine she moved with her parents to Estherville where she grew to womanhood. There she met Aaron Smouse, whom she married Nov. 25, 1896. The young couple lived at Laurens, Iowa for three years and then moved to a farm west of Coon Rapids where they lived for 11 years. Twelve years ago they moved to the present home. The entire family except the father, who died January 4, 1927, survive Mrs. Smouse. They are Mrs. Carl Hestbech of Des Moines, Mrs. Albert Patrick of Coon Rapids, Frank of Scranton, Mrs. Clark Stangl of Coon Rapids, Mrs. Ed Grettenberg of Coon Rapids, Harlan of Jefferson, Miss Frances and Howard who are still at home. There are fifteen grandchildren. Mrs. Hestbeck was unable to attend the services because of illness. Three sisters, Mrs. Lena Houltshouser of Appleton, Minn., Mrs. Frank Hastings of Emmetsburg and Mrs. G. L Gorton of Estherville; and five brothers, Will and Ben of Lathrop, California, George and John of Estherville and Walter of Oakland, California, survive Mrs. Smouse. She was baptized when a child in the Lutheran Church at Spirit Lake, Iowa. Upon moving to Coon Rapids she became a member of the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Coon Rapids and of the Rural Industrial Club.
