Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” March 6, 1961: Mrs. Bertha Louisa Bigg, 73, died at 3:45 Sunday morning at her home, 226 N. Moore, after an extended illness. The daughter of Joseph and Sarah Anthony, she was born in Keosauqua Oct. 27, 1887. She was a resident of Ottumwa for 70 years. She married William W. Bigg Oct. 20, 1908, in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death, as did one daughter, two grandchildren, two brothers and six sisters. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Glenn Mace and Mrs. Fred Diedrick, Ottumwa, Mrs. Leroy Ream, Bilondo Beach, Calif., Mrs. George McNabb, Cedar Rapids, and Lois Bigg, at home; four sons, Walter Bigg, Thomas William Bigg and John Bigg, Ottumwa, and Joseph Edward Bigg, at home; one sister, Mrs Ella Ware of Marshalltown, sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, with Rev. David W. Holmes of the First Lutheran Church in charge. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Mirgon, Leland Cordes, Paul Laird, Donald Davis, Ellis Tomlinson and Paul Heckart Jr.
