Description	:	Bertha Mae Simons, 97, of Colesburg, Iowa, died at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood, on Monday, November 3, 2008, following a brief illness. Mae was born on May 28, 1911, in Rural Elkport, Iowa, the daughter of Morris and Bertha (Strube) Bowman. She attended Mt. Harmony rural school and Elkport High School. Mae was united in marriage to Elmer Simons on August 10, 1932, in Elkport. Together they farmed north of Colesburg until Elmer died in 1971. Survivors include three children, Herbert Simons, Lester (Carol) Simons, and Sharon (Charles) Funk all of Colesburg; her daughter-in-law, Lois Simons of Colesburg; seventeen grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents; one son, Chyrold Simons; one daughter, Verda Simons; two sisters, Mabel Murphy and Grace Kuehl; one brother, Mark Bowman; and two great-grandchildren, Brett Simons and Kendra Harbaugh.
