Belanger of the local Church of Christ offering prayer. Bertha Olive Barnoske was born in Oxford Junction, la., October 3, 1898, the daughter of Wm. E. and Elizabeth Barnoske. She came to Coon Rapids with her parents in 1899 and it was here she grew up and here she attended school. Then she took nurses's training at St. Vincent's hospital in Sioux City, graduating in 1921. She worked as a nurse in Sioux City and surrounding territory, returning to Coon Rapids about 1925 to work with local doctors. She united in marriage with Clarence Coder July 8, 1933. She was preceded in death by her mother June 10, 1910 and by her brother, Wm., Dec. 19, 1937. She took very sick in the spring 1937 and was confined until the time of her death. Through this long illness she was very patient and uncomplaining. She was conscious almost to the end and made the funeral arrangements herself. She passed away Wednesday at 12:20 a. m. She leaves to mourn her passing: her husband, Clarence Coder; two stepchildren, Douglas and Betty Coder; her father, Wm. E. Barnoske; four sisters, Mary (Mr. L. A. Losey) of Worthington, Iowa, Catherine (Mrs. Dan Weaver) of Coon Rapids, Lillian (Mrs. Max Cullings) of Des Moines and Dorothy Barnoske of Des Moines; and a great number of friends. She loved her work as a nurse and many local people have known her ministrations. Her level head and ability helped in many trying circumstances. Her thoughts were always of others. Even when confined she took a vital interest in the affairs of the home and managed it from her bed. Because of her interest in and love of people, her influence expended beyond the confines of her home to gladden the lives of many.
