Description	:	Funeral services were held at Sioux Center Thursday for Mrs. August Koopman, the former Bertha Ramaker, whose death on May 20th at Watertown, S. D., brought sorrow to family and friends. On Wednesday services were held at the Reformed church of Willow Lake, S. D., which Rev. August Koopman serves as pastor and the following day services and interment were held at Sioux Center, first at the home of Mrs. Koopman's brother, H. J. Ramaker, and then at First Reformed church. Bertha Ramaker was born in Prairie View, Kansas, on Angust 19, 1904. At five years of age she came with her family to Sioux county. She attended rural school and upon graduation went to Grundy academy and college. She took a normal course at the State Teacher's college, Cedar Falls, receiving a national certificate. For six years she taught in a Chicago Christian school. After one year as teacher at Pella, Iowa, she did state wide observation work for the state board of education. On June 14, 1933, she was married at Sioux Center to Rev. August Koopman. In December 1933, they moved to Willow Lake, S.D., where Rev. Koopman had accepted the call to serve as pastor of the Reformed church. Mrs. Koopman died calmly with every assurance of the Christian faith. During her last hours she spoke of her readiness to meet her Savior, discussed arrangements for her burial and gave advice about the care of her tiny baby boy. She is survived by her husband, Rev. A. Koopman, her six weeks old son; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Ramaker, her sisters, Mrs. E. Ruys and Mrs. Ben B. Mouw; her brothers, Henry and Bert, all of Sioux Center; Rev. G. Ramaker, Princeton, N. J.; Rev. J. Ramaker, Hartford, Conn,; Rev. S. Ramaker, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. -Obituary from The Alton Democrat (5/31/1935)
