Bertha Rowena “Birdie” was born June 30, 1908 in Laredo, Missouri, the daughter of H. E. and Roena (Warren) Rooks. She attended grade school in Berthold and then went on to attend high school in Ryder and then in Makoti. She married Bolvin J. Jensen on December 12, 1930 in Minot, ND. She was a bookkeeper at the Farmers Union Oil in Kenmare until she retired. Bolvin died on January 16, 1950. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, the VFW Woman’s Auxiliary and the Farmers Union, all of Kenmare. She is survived by a son, Eugene Jensen, and his wife Joann of Kenmare; daughters, Janice Strong of the Villages, Fla., Marleen Pickett and her husband Fred of Sandy, UT, Bonnie Egger and her husband Marlyn of Bedford, IN., and Judy Wirtz and her husband of Gary of Duluth, MN; 20 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bolvin, daughter Patty Gilbertson and her husband Ron; two grandchildren, David Gilbertson and Brett Pickett, and one great-granddaughter, Amanada Egger, and her parents.
