Wissink, 87 Funeral services were held at the Bethel Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, for Mrs. Bertha Wissink, 87, resident of Sioux Center approximately 60 years, who died at her home here early Monday morning following a lengthy illness. She had been an invalid since falling several months ago and breaking her hip. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Richard Venema and interment was made in the Middleburg cemetery. Vander Ploeg's Funeral home of Sioux Center was in charge of arrangements. A short service was held at the family home preceding the service at the church. Mrs. Wissink, nee Bertha Vreeman, was born in The Netherlands September 18, 1869, where she attended school and grew to womenhood. She was married to Hendrik J. Wissink in The Netherlands January 20, 1893, and shortly thereafter the couple moved to the United States , settling on a farm near Sioux Center, where they continued to reside until retiring and moving into Sioux Center about 26 years ago. Her husband preceded her in death January 26, 1956, Survivors include one son, Henry of Middleburg; three daughters, Hattie (Mrs. Martin Brink) of Middleburg, Dora Wissink of Sioux Center, and Bertha (Mrs. E. Dokter) of Sioux Center; 18 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one brother, William, of Corsica, S. D. Other immediate members of the family who preceded her in death were a son, Gerrit, who died in 1909; a daughter, Minnie (Mrs. Henry Hubers) who passed away in 1951; two brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers were Alfred Hubers, Merlyn Hubers, Henry J. Brinks, Edwin Dokter, John Wissink, Herman Wissink. Sioux Center News 1957-05-09.
