'Mrs. Bertha Marie Watson, who had been a long resident of Howard, died at the Ipswich Hospital on Thursday morning. The deceased, who had been visiting her son, Mr. Andrew Watson, at Ipswich, for some time past, took ill a fortnight ago. She was in her 74th year, and was a native of Norway, having arrived in the colonies. 50 years ago. She came direct to Maryborough and shortly afterwards proceeded to Gympie. For the last 24 years she had been residing in Howard, where she enjoyed the esteem of the whole comununity. Her husband, the late Mr. John Watson, predeceased her 11 years ago, but she is survived by an adult family of two daughters and five sons, for whom deep sympathy will be felt in their loss. They comprise Mrs. C. Willday(Maryborough), and Mrs. J. Wilson (Howard), and Messrs. Andrew (Ipswich), John, William, Charles, and James Watson (Howard). The body is being conveyed to Howard by this morning mail train, and the funeral will leave the residence of her son, Mr. James Watson, Whitley street, this afternoon, at 4 o'clock, for the Howard cemetery, the mortuary arrangements being attended by Mr James Buveff.
