JOE ABBOTT RITES HELD HERE FRIDAY As briefly stated last week, Mrs. Joseph Abbott, mother of N.J. Paul passed away on March 5th. Mrs. Abbott had not been in good health for about two years and was seized with pneumonia a week before her death and passed away at Fort Dodge, Iowa at the age of fifty-two years. Bessie Ella Seward was born in Beloit, Kansas, June 6th 1887. When a small child her parents moved to St. Paul, Nebraska, where she attended school and grew to womanhood. In 1905 she was married to John Jay Paul of St. Paul. A son, Nicholas Jay, was Born in 1907 and the same year the husband and father passed away. On August 6th 1913 she was married to Joseph Abbott of Malvern, Iowa. This union was blessed with a daughter, Maybelle, now Mrs. Keith Hunt of Douglas, Nebraska. She joined the Seventh Day Adventist church of College View in 1935 and was a faithful member of this church. Two years ago, Mrs. Abbott had a breakdown of health from which she never completely recovered, and a week ago took pneumonia and passed away Mar. 5th at the Lutheran hospital at Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mrs. Abbott was a loving wife and mother, and all who knew her will greatly miss her. Her thots were always of others. She leaves to mourn her untimely passing, the husband Joseph Abbott of Fort Dodge, Iowa; a son Nicholas Jay Paul of St. Paul; a daughter, Mrs. Keith Hunt of Douglas, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Jacqueline Paul and Carolyn Hunt; one brother, Roscoe Seward of Sunrise, Wyoming, and several cousins. Funeral services were held at the McIntyre Funeral Home in St. Paul at 2:00 p.m., Friday Mar. 8th with the Rev. M. A. Wyman of Hastings assisted by Rev. W. J. Primrose in charge of the services. The misses Helen and Lillian Nelsen sang, “Abide With Me: and “Have Thine Own Way, Lord”, accompanied by John Bell on the piano. Pall bearers were George Pyne, C. E. Arterburn, Louis Moravec, Edw. Bartle, Ed Kotik and W. S. Paul. The large number of floral tributes showed the esteem and love in which she was held by family and friends. Burial was made in the family lot at Elmwood Cemetery. Relatives who were here from a distance to attend the funeral rites were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Rickel, Mr. and Mrs. Roe Rickel and Mrs. S. Rohrer of Hastings; Mrs. Marsha Hunt of Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hunt of Douglas and Joseph Abbott of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
