Description	:	N. Jay Paul II Services Friday Memorial services were held Friday, February7th, at 2 p.m. at the Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. Officiating were Rev. Harold Snow and Rev. Roger Victoria. Mrs. Dale Johnson sang "Hymn of Promise' and was joined in a duet, "His Hand In Mine, by Mrs. Burt Johnson, who was the organist. Inurnment was in Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul. Jacobsen Funeral Home at St. Paul was in charge of arrangements. Nicholas Jay Paul was born January 20, 1907 at St. Paul to John Jay and Bessie (Seward) Paul. He passed away on February 2, 1992 at St. Paul at the age of 85 years. He received his early educations in the St. Paul schools, graduating in 1925. He married Alyce Nelsen June 17 1937, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He attended the university of Nebraska and Colorado A & M. The couple returned to Nebraska in 1930 when he began work at the St. Paul National Bank. He later worked for the Soil Conservation Service as a Forester, supervising the planting of many of the shelterbelts in central Nebraska. He returned to work at the St. Paul National Bank until his retirement. Mr. Paul served on the St. Paul School Board, City Council, Howard County Fair Board and the Elmwood Cemetery Board. He had been a board member of the Howard County Historical Society and a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as Howard County Assessor and Treasurer. He was a life member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Alyce of St. Paul; three daughters, Jacqueline (Mrs. Don) Johnson of Estes Park, Colorado, Virginia (Mrs. Jeff) Brooks of Minneapolic, Minnesota, Colleen ( Mrs. Vic) Hoerner of Longmont, Colorado; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Maybelle Hunt of Douglas, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by one son, Nicholas Jay Paul III.
