Description	:	Bessie Mae Curry, daughter of Henry and Lula (Cheney) Heiserman, was born August 31, 1896, at Liberty, Nebraska. Bessie was a graduate of the Liberty, Nebraska, High School. After her graduation she taught rural schools around Liberty and later around Nelson. She departed from this life at Nelson, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and one day, on April 1, 1985. Read More	Bessie Mae Curry, daughter of Henry and Lula (Cheney) Heiserman, was born August 31, 1896, at Liberty, Nebraska. Bessie was a graduate of the Liberty, Nebraska, High School. After her graduation she taught rural schools around Liberty and later around Nelson. She departed from this life at Nelson, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and one day, on April 1, 1985. She was united in marriage to Olin (sic) W. Curry on June 4, 1919, at Lincoln, Nebraska. She lived on the Curry Farm near Burchard all of her married life. To this union was born one son, Gene Allen, and an infant daughter. After the death of her husband in 1937, Bessie moved to Nelson in 1942 to be near her sisters, Mrs. Fae Wilkins and Mrs. Kate Whartman. She was a 45 year member of the Nelson United Methodist Church and a member of the Nelson Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 27. Bessie worked in the Nuckolls County Welfare Office for 22 years as assistant director and later as director. After retiring from this office, Bessie continued to live in Nelson and has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center for the last ten years. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Olin, the infant daughter, her son Allen Curry, her brothers, Guy, Theo, Tillman Dale, Robert, and a sister, Faye Wilkins. She leaves to mourn her death a sister, Kate Whartman; a brother, Carroll Heiserman of Santa Monica, California; one grandchild, four great grandchildren, Jay Dee Curry, Shari Curry, Josh Curry and Chantell Curry of Denver, Colorado; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 3, 1985, at 11:00 a.m. from the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Paul Samuelson officiating. Music was provided by Ivan Schafer, organist, and Alfred and James Hanson, vocalists. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, Nebraska.
