Read More	Moulton, Iowa: Moulton Weekly Tribune, issue of Thursday, 27 June 1935 Bessie Spurgeon, daughter of William E. and Maggie Hargrove Spurgeon,was born near Mark, Iowa, July 18, 1888, and passed away to that better world beyond at the home of her brother, Estus Spurgeon at Bloomfield, Iowa, Wednesday, June 19, 1935, at 11:45 p.m. at the age of 46 years, 11 months and 11 days. She was married to Ira L. Hayden, of West Grove, on May 10, 1911. To this union no children were born. They adopted an infant daughter at the age of six weeks who had grown very near and dear to her mother, who expressed a desire to live to see her daughter grow to womanhood if it were God's will. She was converted in early life and united with the Baptist church at Mark, where she was a faithful member and an earnest worker. After her marriage, she united her membership with her husband at the Bethel Methodist church. In October, 1926, she acknowledged her faith with the Pentecostal people, according to Act, second chapter, fourth verse, trying always to point people to a closer walk with God. She was more thoughtful of others than of herself, always ready with a willing hand and cheerful smile. She was devoted to her husband and daughter and all her friends,by whom she will be greatly missed. While in St. Joseph Hospital, at Ottumwa, she was a patient sufferer for 29 days. She expressed a desire to get home and thank her kind friends for the beautiful flowers and many other kind deeds administered for comfort and cheer during her illness. She was highly esteemed by her doctor and nurses for her courage and kind and pleasant disposition. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Ira L. Hayden; her daughter, Mildred; her mother, Mrs. James Denny, of Bloomfield; five brothers, Roy Spurgeon, of Ottumwa, Glen, of Bloomfield, Estus E., of Bloomfield, Herman E., of Ottumwa, and Lauris, of Bloomfield; two sisters, Mrs. James Walker, of West Grove, and Mrs. Lottie Andrews, of Downing, Mo., aside from a host of other relatives and friends. Short funeral services were conducted at the Estus Spurgeon home at 1 o'clock Saturday, June 22, by Rev. Adams, of the Bloomfield Christian church. Services were also held at the West Grove Methodist church at 2:30, conducted by Rev. A.D. McClure, of the Ottumwa Pentecostal church, assisted by Rev. Irmen Tando, of the Bethel Methodist church. Interment was made at the Bethel cemetery, near West Grove. _______________
