Description	:	Miss Bessie Thompson, 72, of 607 North Pinckney Street, Union, died Sunday at 5:22 a.m. in Wallace Thompson Hospital. Miss Thompson was born in Swain County, North Carolina on May 23, 1913, a daughter of the late Coleman W. and Maggie Sherill Thompson. She was a member of the Church of Christ on the Duncan By-Pass. Miss Thompson was retired from the Wallace Thompson Hospital after 35 years of service. Read More	Miss Bessie Thompson, 72, of 607 North Pinckney Street, Union, died Sunday at 5:22 a.m. in Wallace Thompson Hospital. Miss Thompson was born in Swain County, North Carolina on May 23, 1913, a daughter of the late Coleman W. and Maggie Sherill Thompson. She was a member of the Church of Christ on the Duncan By-Pass. Miss Thompson was retired from the Wallace Thompson Hospital after 35 years of service. "Miss Bessie" as she was known, worked in the maternity ward of the hospital, taking care of all the new born babies. She was loved by all that knew her. Surviving are a sister, Corine Vinson of the home; two brothers, John Thompson of Cowpens and Charlie Thompson of Jonesville; and five nieces. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel by Minister Don Nix and Gary Ham. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Billy Beheler, David Vinson, Walt Akers, Furman Hill, David Foster and G.W. Henderson. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9. The family is at the home of her sister, Mrs. Corine Vinson, 607 North Pinckney Street, Union. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
