Description	:	Mrs. Bessie Hawkins, 83, of 713 East Williams died at 2:30 Monday at the Ottumwa Hospital. Born April 7, 1891 in Davis County, she was the daughter of Henry and Anna Rogers Thompson and was an Ottumwa resident since 1958. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church. She married William L Hawkins on July 15, 1911, at Mason City. He survives. Born April 7, 1891 in Davis County, she was the daughter of Henry and Anna Rogers Thompson and was an Ottumwa resident since 1958. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church. Also surviving are three sons, Larval, Wallace, and Carl, all of Ottumwa; six daughters, Merita Bales of Floris, Amy Davis of Ottumwa, Blanche Penrod of Zion, Illinois, Lucile John of Lenix, Ione Brown of Denver, Colorado, and Gladys Karr of Albia; thirty grandchildren; fifty five great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; one brother, Emery Thompson of Ottumwa and one sister, Mamie Ritchie of Ottumwa. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30pm at the Davis Street Christian Church with the Rev. Harold Day of Ottumwa officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dean Bales, James and Randy Hawkins, Davy Davis, Stephen John, and Rick Karr. The casket will remain at the Johnson Funeral Chapel until 11am Thursday when it will be taken to the church.
