She graduated from Decatur High School in 1938. After she completed high school she attended nurses training at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha NE, earning her RN. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1938. After she completed high school she attended nurses training at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha NE, earning her RN. The US had just been drawn into WWII at the time and she joined the Army Air Force. After training in Louisville KY she was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. During the war she was stationed at Hickam Field in Hawaii & on many different islands in the So Pacific. Her unit flew into islands as soon as an airstrip was ready to evacuate wounded men to hospitals on other islands. Beth served as a cover girl in a picture of her in front of an airplane in uniform which was the cover of the 7th Air Force Magazine. She had earned the rank of Captain at her time of discharge. Beth then became a Stewardess for Pan Am World Airlines. At that time a stewardess was required to be an RN when working flights over the Pacific Ocean. She met and married Robert O'Donnell, a Pan Am Pilot and lived in Los Altos Hills CA and also spent four yrs living in China. Four children were born to this union. In the ten yrs prior to her death Beth shared a home with her sister, Janice Wells, first in San Jose, then in Phoenix. Beth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, one granddaughter, two brothers and one sister.
