The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus with Pastor Adam Lassen officiating. Interment will be in the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Friday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Interment will be in the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska. There will be a family prayer service on Friday at 10:15 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elwood Rescue Unit or the Elwood Senior Center. Beth Leggott was born December 20, 1919, in Gosper County, Nebraska, to Edward and Jessie (Mueller) Leggott. She was baptized in March 1931 at the Elwood Christian Church. Beth graduated from Elwood High School in 1937. On December 29, 1941, Beth was united in marriage to Sherle Francis Leggott at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. During Sherle’s enlistment in the military, Beth lived with her parents and taught school in Dawson County for four years, and in Gosper County for two years. Following Sherle’s discharge they farmed a small operation of their own as well as farming his father’s land. The couple were blessed with three children – Ronald Dean, Garold Gene, and Mary Ann. The family moved west of Elwood in 1956 where they lived until 1970 when they moved into Elwood. Following the move to Elwood, Beth worked at B&D in Holdrege, Nebraska, for 15 years. She enjoyed making crafts and making sure her children’s birthdays were very special. Family and faith were the focal point of her life. Beth is survived by: Son – Ronald Dean (Deb) Leggott of Grand Island, NE Grandson - Benjamin (Laura) Leggott of Melbeta, NE Granddaughter - Marcella (Gary) Thomalla of Scottsbluff, NE Granddaughter - Suzanne (Adam) Clapp of McGrew, NE Granddaughter - Sarah (Chris) Altmaier of Aberdeen, SD Grandson - Andrew Leggott of Belle Fourche, SD Son- Garold Gene (Judy) Leggott of York, NE Grandson - Chad (Kim) Leggott of Blair, NE Granddaughter - Kristen Leggott of Lincoln, NE Daughter – Mary Ann (Gordon) Blaser of Columbus, NE 17 Great Grandchildren Beth was preceded in death by: Parents – Edward and Jessie Leggott Husband – Sherle Francis Leggott Brothers – Keith, Galen, Loren, Merton, and Vern Leggott
