Read More	"The Elwood Bulletin" [Elwood, Gosper County, Nebraska, USA], 12 Apr 1978: Death Takes Solid Citizen Ed Leggott Elwood lost a solid citizen last week in the passing of Ed Leggott, who would have attained 90 years next month. He had been a county resident since a small boy and closely associated with the Elwood community for many years from the farm just half-mile west of town. Known as progressive farmer and livestock man, he promoted agriculture in every way, giving assistance to any program designed to improve farming practices and this area. He will be greatly missed by a wide circle of friends with whom he visited frequently at the local cafe coffee bar. Services were conducted Sunday afternoon from his church, First Christian in Elwood, by Rev. Larry Laird. Maxine Leggott, organist, played two solos in Ed's memory. Casket bearers were Roger Mueller, Dale Fish, Wayne Fish, Burwin Bean, Russell Tilson and Vaugn Leggott. Interment was in Elwood Cemetery. Clark Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Edward Leggott, son of George and Mary Carter Leggott, was born May 17, 1888, in Clifton, Illinois, and passed away April 7, 1978, at Tri-County hospital, Lexington. Ed moved from Illinois to Gosper County with his parents when he was a small child. He attended school at Ash Grove, southwest of Elwood. He was married to Jessie Mueller July 31, 1912. Ed was engaged in farming and livestock all his life until retiring and moving to Elwood five years ago. He was an active member of the Christian Church and served as board chairman and elder for many years. At the time of his death he was an honorary elder in the church. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Vern; one brother, Roy; three sisters, infant Mary Leggott, Carrie Tilson and Esther Frescoln. Survivors include wife Jessie; brother, Charles of Elwood; and sisters, Alice Hall of Elwood and Annie Fish of Oxford; sons, Keith and Galen of Elwood, Loran of Colorado, Merton of Palmyra; and one daughter, Beth of Elwood. Others include fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. ____________________
