Description	:	AURORA — Bethel Mary (Strotman) Kolar, 81, of Aurora died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. James Divis will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Kolar was born Aug. 20, 1932, at Aurora to Fred and Julia (Van De Walle) Strotman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kolar, and a son, Jon Oberg. Those left to cherish her memory are a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Polina Oberg of Grand Island; a daughter, Jacque Harvey of Aurora; and a brother, Gene Strotman of Grand Island. Also surviving are grandchildren, Sara, Michael, Georgiy, Tricia, Jenn, Chris, Ben and Julia; great-granddaughter, Ashley; great-grandson, Chase; a new great-granddaughter arriving soon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bethel graduated from Aurora High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Jack Lee Oberg on May 11, 1953. To this union three children were born, Danny, Jon and Jacqueline. Bethel worked various places throughout her life. Her most memorable employment was working for her sister, Leona, at Dick's Cafe in Aurora, where she became famous for her wonderful pies. On Nov. 15, 1975, Bethel was united in marriage to Robert (Butch) Kolar. From that time on she was a full-time wife and mother, her most cherished position of all. She loved doing things for her family, from cooking and preparing for the perfect Christmas dinner to remembering every special moment with cards and gifts. Bethel was a devout Catholic and in her younger years played the organ for the church. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Leona Jensen; a sister-in-law, Georgia Strotman; and a brother-in-law, Gene Jensen.
