Strotman, the son of Anthony and Gertrude Lohoff Strotman, was born at Albion, Nebraska on December 26, 1898 and died suddenly at his home in Aurora, Nebraska on February 4, 1977 at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 8 days. He spent his childhood in the vicinity of his birth, where he received his education in the public schools in the Albion and St. Edward vicinity. He was baptized in the Catholic Faith in his infancy and was later confirmed and was a lifelong, faithful member of the church. Since residing in the Aurora community he has been active in St. Mary's Church. On March 30, 1921 he was united in marriage to Julia Van Dewalle at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. They farmed near Wolbach for one year and then moved to Cedar Rapids, where they farmed for two years. In March of 1924 they moved to Hamilton County, where they farmed in the vicinity of Aurora. In 1952 they moved into Aurora and he continued his farming operation until his retirement in 1972. He was one of those who were honored as Pioneer Irrigators in Hamilton County. His parents, two brothers, Ben and Joseph Strotman and one sister, Mrs. Anna Gress had preceded him in death. Those who survive are his wife, Julia; one son, Gene Strotman; two daughters, Mrs. Leona Jensen and Mrs. Bethel Kolar; brother, Edward Strotman all of Aurora; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many close friends.
