Description	:	This grave was included in the WPA survey of New Hampton Cemetery. Betsy is buried with her husband Jeremy; a son, Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Stimson; and a grandson in the same lot. The maiden name of Busch is from the death certificate of one of her daughters, and hence spelling is tentative. I have been unable to find much additional documentation for Betsy. The maiden name of Busch is from the death certificate of one of her daughters, and hence spelling is tentative. I have been unable to find much additional documentation for Betsy. The genealogy I am using lists daughters named Lucy, born 1823, and Alzina, born 1832, both in Cattaraugus, New York. However, there are no sources for them, and they may have been married by the time of the 1850 census. The 1840 census shows 3 daughters, as well as one son (Benjamin Franklin, undoubtedly). The 4th daughter was Mary Stimson, who married James Fisk in New York in 1846 and came to Iowa in 1855 with her husband. Her connections to her parents are well-documented, but I don't have additional information about the other two daughters--they may have stayed in New York. Betsy and Jeremy probably came to Iowa about the same time as other family members--1855. Their children were born in Cattaraugus County, so they may have come directly from there. They have connections with both Fayette and Chickasaw counties in Iowa. Jeremy definitely died in Chickasaw County, and since Betsy died well before him, she must also have died there. Jeremy Stimson married another Betsy--Betsy Sherwood--in 1865 in Fayette County, so there are documents that show the name Betsy that may pertain to one or the other wives named Betsy. So the date needs to be taken into account when gathering information.
