Description	:	Bettie Daisy Carolinia, the 12th of Leonard & Ellen Self's 13 children, was born in Castlewood, Russell Co, VA. When she was 11 years old her parents moved to MO. In the early 1920's she lived with her brother, Ezra, and his wife in St. Louis, where she was worked at St. Lukes Hospital. She met Floyd Langley when she changed jobs & went to work at the City Hospital, where he was employed as a Morgue Keeper. She married Floyd in St Louis on December 26, 1923. She met Floyd Langley when she changed jobs & went to work at the City Hospital, where he was employed as a Morgue Keeper. She married Floyd in St Louis on December 26, 1923. Identical newspaper articles about their marriage were published in the two leading newspapers in Versailles. "Mr. Floyd Langley of St. Louis, Missouri, and Miss Bettie Self of Versailles, Missouri, were united in Holy Matrimony at the Baptist parsonage in St. Louis, Wednesday morning December 26, 1923, at 10:30 a.m. Miss Self is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. L.B. Self of Versailles, but for the past three years she has been a nurse at St. Lukes Hospital and for the past year was nurse at the City Hospital of St. Louis. Mr. Langley is a Morgue Keeper at the City hospital where he has been engaged for several years. The young couple will make their future home in St. Louis where they have many friends." Floyd suffered from asthma and bronchitis, which led to emphysema. On Nov. 28, 1944, he died from heart related problems due to emphysema. Bettie & Floyd didn't have any children. She died from "Parkinson's Disease" at 4:30 p.m. on April 22, 1959, in the home of her nephew, Raymond French. She was 63 years old. Her obituary follows: "BETTIE D. LANGLEY DIES IN CALIFORNIA, MO Bettie D. Langley, daughter of the late Leonard B. and Margaret Counts Self, was born in Castlewood, Virginia, June 20, 1895, and died at the home of her nephew, Raymond French, in California, Mo., April 22, 1959, at the age of 63 years. She was united in marriage with Floyd Langley, who preceded her in death November 28, 1944. A number of years ago she professed her faith in Christ and united with the Baptist church in St. Louis, Missouri. She is survived by two brothers, Dallas Self of St. Louis and Gilmer Self of El Segundo, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Quince Hayse, Sedalia, and Mrs. Nannie Fraley, St. Paul, Virginia, and a number of nephews and nieces. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held from the Kidwell Funeral Home Friday, April 24, with the Rev. L.E. Johnson officiating. Interment was in Freedom cemetery. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Gene Bartram and Mrs. Wayne Hardin, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. T.D. Jennings. Pallbearers were Gordon Hopkins, Roy Earl Hopkins, Arley Cox, Ear Goddard, Joe Sims and Aubrey Sims." Source: Leader Statesman May 1, 1959
