Description	:	Betty B. Nely, 86, of Herington, KS, (currently resided at Arbor Court, Salina, KS) died Wednesday, March 25th, 2015, at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born Friday, January 18, 1929, at Herington, the daughter of Raymond James and Wilhelmina Augusta (Krause) DeBus. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 30th, 2015, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, Pastor Bill Peterson, officiating; burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. She was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church, Herington, until its closing. She began working as a Window Dresser at Buck’s Dept. Store in Wichita, and later worked as a clerk at many retail businesses in Herington (Gamble’s, McDonald Clothing Store, Chet’s Meats Market, & Dreiling’s Department Store). She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1947. She married Winfred “Fred” Nely on February 3, 1949, in Wichita; he preceded her in death on March 21, 2014. She is also preceded in death by four (4) brothers: Kenneth DeBus, John DeBus, Jim DeBus, & Woodrow “Woodie” DeBus; and two (2) sisters: Ella Mae Taylor, & Lee Rose Valentine; and her parents. She is survived by a son David Nely (wife-Regina) of Salina; a daughter Melody Gilbert (husband-Forest) of Culver; a sister Dian Hegle of Herington, nine (9) grandchildren (Jeremy & Elizabeth Nely, Nathan & Becca Nely, Adrian & Anna Serene, Laura & Dallas Smith, Lisa Gropp, Tom Thall, Forest III “Trae” & Tiffany Gilbert, Alyssa Gilbert, Courtney Gilbert); and ten (10) great grandchildren (Aaron, Jackson, Madeline, Isabelle, Alexander, Finn, Eternity, Derek, Carter, & Christopher). Memorials to the “Derek Gropp Medical Fund” or the Donor’s Choice; and they may be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS, 67449-3038.
