She departed this life on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 surrounded by her family at her home near Deweese, Nebraska at the age of 87 years. Betty spent her entire life in the Edgar and Deweese area. Betty attended Edgar public schools. On July 29, 1946 she was united in marriage to Ward Shaw at Mankato, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children; 3 sons and a daughter. Betty made homemaking her life career. She loved cooking and was the quintessential grandmother, known as Nana and Grandma Precious. She was a self-taught piano and organ player; she has played from many church services. Ward and Betty were active antique collectors, they bought and sold antiques for years and attended antique shows near and far. Ward and Betty had the Burlington Railroad Depot building from Edgar moved to their farmstead which they used to house and sell their antiques from. Betty had always held a special place in her heart for her many dogs and cats she had throughout the years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ward, son Randy; brother Meredith and sister Nona Speake. Survivors include her sons: Larry Shaw and wife Charlene of Fairfield, Nebraska; Rodney Shaw and wife Dawn of Nelson, Nebraska; daughter Wilhelmina Andersen and husband Mike of Wisconsin; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held this Friday 10:30 AM, March 10, 2017 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, Nebraska. Randy Schneider will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
