Read More	AGED LADY DIED AT AGE OF 94 Miss Betty Hoffman Died Last Saturday Morning One of Crisfield's oldest residents, Mrs. Betty Hoffman, died quietly at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Agnes Hoffman, 3 Hudson St., at 12.00 noon, October 11th. Mrs. Hoffman had passed her 94th birthday, having celebrated this occasion on September 7th, a month and four days prior to her death. A grand old lady, Mrs. Hoffman had been a semi-invalid for several years, resulting from a fall in which she fractured her hip. Despite her advanced years, her mind was quite clear, up to the time of her death. She loved to recall the Civil War days when she remembered the Yankee troops around her childhood home near Accomac, Va., where they would ask for food and water. She also recalled watching the soldiers build quarters for the officers in a field nearby. Seventy six years ago she married the late Capt. David W. Hoffman of Tylerton, Smith Island in one of the biggest weddings and celebrations the Island had ever known. Rev. Hance Lawson, one of Somerset's pioneer ministers, performed the ceremony. Mrs. Hoffman was active in many affairs. Many will recall the lovely flowers she grew, her well-kept lawn and fine vegetables she grew in her garden on Maryland Avenue. Funeral services were held from Bradshaw Funeral Chapel on Monday, Oct. 13th, at 2.30 P.M., conducted by Rev. W. T. Moorefield, assisted by Dr. J. Yancey Fincher and Rev. E. L. Bennett. "Home of The Soul" and "Abide with Me" were sung by Rev. Bennett, accompanied at the Hammond Organ by J. Dawson Clarke. Interment was in Crisfield Cemetery. She is survived by four children, Mrs. Jennie Purnell, Crisfield; Mrs. Carrie Messick, Marion; Archie D. Hoffman, Baltimore, and William G. Hoffman, Elizabeth, N.J., and 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Bearers were Messrs.
