Read More	Wenatchee World - Wednesday, October 5, 2011 Betty Ellen Jeglum, 82, of Omak, WA, was received into Heaven on October 1, 2011, at her home of 55 years, surrounded by family. She was born February 18, 1929, on Pogue Flat, northwest of Omak, to Levi and Edna Spaulding. After attending Riverside Elementary School, she graduated from Omak High School in 1947, went on to Central Washington State College and spent a short time as a Bank Teller at Seattle First National Bank. Betty also worked as a Bookkeeper for the Men's Store and McNeil Floor Covering in Omak. On November 19, 1949, she married Merlyn Edward Jeglum. Together they had six children. Betty and Merlyn owned and operated the Chevron Station and A&W Drive-in in Omak. Betty was an active community member with a wide array of interests and memberships. She enjoyed the early years of the Pogue Flat Country Club, volunteered as the Omak Little League secretary, was active in Soroptimist Club, and was a founding member of the Pioneer Club, which helped form the North Central Washington regional library system. Betty and her friends enjoyed many years helping children learn to read through the HOST program for Omak School District. She loved her church family and took great pleasure teaching Sunday School, playing the organ, and being active in the Ladies Aid. Betty's children will most remember her as a loving, involved mother, with a ready stash of chocolate chip cookies in the freezer. Betty's friends and community will miss her smiling face and genuine care for everyone. Her most avid hobby involved all forms of sewing and knitting, but most of all, quilting. Her children and grandchildren each have several of her hand-made quilts. Surviving Betty are her loving husband of 61 years, Merlyn Jeglum; five children, Laura Cornwall, Ed Jeglum, Lynn (Kevin) Love, Carl (Tresa) Jeglum and K.C. O'Hara; grandchildren, Makenna, Sarah, Matt, Tony (Kristy), Jennifer, Andrea, Emily, Sandy, Loren, Jake and Justin; and great-grandchildren, Shelby, Faith, Andrew, J.R. and Bailey. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; and her son, David. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Omak. She will be laid to rest at the Pioneer Cemetery in Conconully, WA. Memorials may be made in Betty's name to Trinity Lutheran Church in Omak.
