IA She married William Richard "Bill" Harris on June 10, 1951, at the Methodist Church in Woodbine, Iowa. The couple lived in Colorado for two months and then Alaska. They returned to Woodbine following Bill's honorable discharge and Bill returned to carpentry work and worked at the post office. Bill and Bette were blessed with two children, and later considered themselves parents to two foreign exchange students as well. Bill and Bette did much traveling, both in the United States, and visiting their students in the home countries.
