Description	:	Betty was a very intelligent, personable lady who enjoyed her family and was a real friend to her neighbors. Betty was born in Unity Township, Columbiana County, Ohio, and grew up there. She went to the New Waterford school and met her husband at a roller skating rink near New Waterford (Fred was living in a nearby township.) Fred & Betty married soon after she graduated from high school and they lived with Fred's parents in Middleton (Fairfield Township, Columbiana, Co, Ohio). Fred was drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1943 and Betty followed him to Shreveport, Louisana. ... Read More	Betty was a very intelligent, personable lady who enjoyed her family and was a real friend to her neighbors. Betty was born in Unity Township, Columbiana County, Ohio, and grew up there. She went to the New Waterford school and met her husband at a roller skating rink near New Waterford (Fred was living in a nearby township.) Fred & Betty married soon after she graduated from high school and they lived with Fred's parents in Middleton (Fairfield Township, Columbiana, Co, Ohio). Fred was drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1943 and Betty followed him to Shreveport, Louisana. She came back home when pregnant with her first child and they rented a home in the town of Columbiana, Ohio. After Fred was discharged by the Army he returned to his job in Columbiana. Their second child was born the year after Fred came home. After Fred's father died in 1949, they moved back in with his mother and stayed in that house in Fairfield township (just outside of Columbiana) the rest of their lives. In 1954 Betty became the bookkeeper for Ever Ready Gas which operated out of the local hardware store. She walked to work as the store was very near her home. In really bad weather one of the drivers would come and pick her up as Fred had already gone to work. She quit in 1980 when the store was sold. She & Fred had a huge vegetable garden and they canned or froze most of the harvests. Betty had a sarcastic sense of humor that was greatly enjoyed by her family. She loved visiting her family and was extremely proud of her children and her grandchildren. Betty died at home from lung cancer. Her husband and her daughter were at her bedside.
