Description	:	Betty J. Steinkruger, 77, of York, formerly of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at her home. Betty Jane (Dodson) Steinkruger was born on October 2, 1944 in Holdrege to Charles and Etta (Warner) Dodson. She grew up in Loomis and received her education at Holdrege Elementary School and Loomis Public School. She was united in marriage to Leland Steinkruger on October 5, 1963, in Bertrand. Steinkruger, 77, of York, formerly of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at her home. Betty Jane (Dodson) Steinkruger was born on October 2, 1944 in Holdrege to Charles and Etta (Warner) Dodson. She grew up in Loomis and received her education at Holdrege Elementary School and Loomis Public School. She was united in marriage to Leland Steinkruger on October 5, 1963, in Bertrand. The couple lived on the family farm in Upland, after Leland retired they moved to Franklin. She later moved in with her daughter, Jane and her husband Kelly in rural York. Betty worked as a farm wife doing field work, being a hired hand, truck driver, gopher for parts, and ensuring everyone was well fed. She also worked at Recollections, Pioneer Village, and wall papering and cleaning homes for many people. She had a gift for decorating and was always looking to change things to make them better or more eye appealing. She was a member of Macon Methodist Church, Macon MAWS, card club and extension club. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, quilting, crocheting, counted cross-stitch, gardening, baking, and canning. She was very organized and spent many hours doing extensive genealogy and putting together photo albums. She was known for always having a "perfect" looking house, and she would say the key to a clean house was to always have it picked up. Betty always had an open door and was ready to serve guests coffee, cookies and pies. She loved spending time entertaining her family and having large picnics. Betty loved spending time teaching her hobbies to her granddaughters and was very generous and loved sharing her handy work by making things and giving them away. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leland; parents; brothers, Raymond, Ralph, Alan, Zeke, Jack, Bill and Glen; sisters, Gladys and Twyla. Interment will be held following the service at Macon Union Cemetery.
