Read More	ASHEBORO – Betty Jane Key Linthicum, 89, died Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Clapps Nursing Home in Asheboro. She was born March 31, 1930, in Surry County and was the daughter of the late J.G. and Ida Boyles Key. She attended Pilot Mountain High School and graduate from Trinity High School where she was a basketball athlete. She was a long-time member of Caraway Baptist Church where she sand in the choir and had been a Sunday school teacher for many years. Betty was a faithful and devoted homemaker and owner and operator of a Christian book store in Archdale. She was a talented writer and wrote articles for the Archdale-Trinity News, wrote poetry, songs and church plays, and wrote the Love Light Ministries Newsletter. She was also an accomplished painter and musician, singing and playing the piano and accordion. Betty also enjoyed shopping, reading, playing cards with her family, and listening to good old-fashioned Gospel music. Spending time with her family brought her great joy but her greatest joy was worshipping Jesus Christ through her life and service and as a faithful prayer warrior. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Charles B. Linthicum; four brothers, Paul, Sam, John and Frank Key; and six sisters, Myrtle Peele, Sadie Harris, Eva Ann Armstrong, Verla Peele, Ruth Stack and infant Annie Lou Key. Betty is survived by children, Diane Linthicum of Seymour, Indiana, and Terry Linthicum (Paige) of Sophia; three grandchildren, Carol Spivey (Johnnie), Mandy Ashley (Brandon) and Curtis Linthicum (Grace); seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will be held 3:30 PM Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Caraway Baptist Church with Pastor Fredie Meadows, Dr. Jim Honeycutt and Rev. Johnnie Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:20 PM Sunday at the church prior to the service and also in the church fellowship hall following the service. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to Caraway Baptist Church, P.O. Box 399, Sophia, NC 27350.
