Description	:	PILOT MOUNTAIN - Mr. John Wesley Key, age 85, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Monday, November 1, 2010 in Albany, GA. Mr. Key was born in Surry County, May 9, 1925 to John Gabriel and Ida Mae Boyles Key. He served our country in the United States Navy and retired from N.C. Granite Corp. He was a member of Simmons Grove Baptist Church where he also served as deacon. Read More	PILOT MOUNTAIN - Mr. John Wesley Key, age 85, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Monday, November 1, 2010 in Albany, GA. Mr. Key was born in Surry County, May 9, 1925 to John Gabriel and Ida Mae Boyles Key. He served our country in the United States Navy and retired from N.C. Granite Corp. He was a member of Simmons Grove Baptist Church where he also served as deacon. Mr. Key is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Fred Schuermann of High Point; Donette and Larry Brown of Pilot Mountain; Velna and Henry Allen of Conway, SC; a son, Darrell Key of Durham; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Eva Armstrong of Pilot Mountain, Verla Peele of Mount Airy, Ruth and Louie Stack of Albany, GA, Betty Linthicum of Sophia and a sister-in-law, Geneva Key of Pilot Mountain. In addition to his parents, Mr. Key was preceded in death by his wife, Mallie Mozelle Inman Key; sisters, Myrtle Peele, Sadie Harris and Annie Lou Key and brothers, Rev. Paul Key, Sam Key and Frank Key. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Simmons Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Stewart Mauck, Rev. Jeff Stephens and Rev. Johnson Gupton officiating. Mr. Key will lie in state at the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night, from 6:30 until 9:00, at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Simmons Grove Church Building Fund, c/o Junior Stephens, 109 Sapphire Lane, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041 or to Pilot Mountain Outreach Center c/o Jimmy Rogers, 2713 Cook School Rd.
